WU Triathletes Compete at Linfield Harrier Classic in Cross Country

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Four members of the Willamette University women's triathlon team competed at the Linfield Harrier Classic in cross country on Friday, Sept. 2 at Joe Dancer Park. Natalie Moser (Fy., Portland, OR/Lincoln HS) was the top finisher from the WU triathlon team in the women's 4-kilometer race. Moser took 10th place in 16:51.7.

Also running in the women's race were WU triathletes Ria Martinez (Jr., Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy), Aubrey Tuttle (Fy., Roseville, CA/Roseville HS), and Alessandra Armenta-Lopez (Fy., Portland, OR/Gladstone HS). Martinez was timed at 19.59.5. Tuttle registered a time of 20:12.5. Armenta-Lopez completed the race in 29:29.9.

On the results file, Willamette's triathletes, who officially competed in the women's race for Willamette Triathlon, are listed as unattached.

The Willamette men's and women's cross country teams both defeated Linfield University to win the meet. Jay Chew (Fy., Elk Grove, CA/Laguna Creek HS) won the men's individual title for the Bearcats, as he finished the 6-kilometer race with a time of 20:19.5. He took first place by 20.5 seconds. In the women's race, Zoe Heino (Fy., Portland, OR/Mountainside HS) of WU placed fifth in 16:09.0.

Willamette is set to participate in its first triathlon of the season on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Best in the West Triathlon Festival. The triathlon will be held at Lewis Creek Park near Foster, Oregon, starting at 8 a.m. (PDT).
