Lane is Selected to All-Tournament Team at Oregon Trail Classic

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior middle hitter Jennifer Lane (Salinas, CA/Notre Dame HS) has been named to the All-Tournament Team at the Oregon Trail Classic, which was played on Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31, and was hosted by Paciific University, George Fox University and Lewis & Clark College. Lane earned her spot on the All-Tournament Team by recording 46 kills and a 2.37 hitting percentage on offense plus 15 total blocks on defense during Willamette's four matches. A total of 10 student-athletes were chosen for the All-Tournament Team.

The Bearcats played Central College (Iowa) and Hamline University (Minn.) on Friday at Pacific. Willamette followed up with matches against University of St. Thomas (Minn.) and John Carroll University (Ohio). on Saturday at George Fox. WU ended the tournament with a 1-3 record, but the Bearcats' opponents held only a slim 9-8 in sets won during the weekend.

Lane competed in all 17 sets for the Bearcats. She averaged 2.71 kills per set and 0.88 blocks per set. She registered double-digit kills in every match with a high of 13 kills against Hamline. She hit .208 or better in each match, including .273 against Hamline. She provided WU with five blocks versus Central and achieved four blocks twice.

Joining Lane on the All-Tournament Team were Milana Ivkovic from Pacific, Kendall Malone from Lewis & Clark, Gabby Robinson from Hamline, Raelynn Hammock from Linfield College, Ashtyn Butler from George Fox, Ellie Meyer from St. Thomas, Erin Dilger from Central, Sarah Calabrese from John Carroll, and Megna Andrews from Methodist College (N.C.)

The Bearcats will return to action with their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 3 against Northwest Christian University. Match time at Cone Field House is set for 7 p.m. (PDT).
