Bearcat Volleyball falls to Hendrix and Hardin-Simmons

Marshall, TX - Volleyball dropped the opening two matches of their trip to Texas today, falling 3-0 to Hendrix College and Hardin-Simmons University.  The Warriors of Hendrix defeated the Bearcats 25-15, 27-25, 25-20, and Hardin-Simmons won the match 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.

In the match versus Hendrix, Katey Cramer led the Bearcats in kills for the fourth time this season with 9, followed by Kaitlyn Westby with five.  A trio of Bearcats led the way in digs as Olivia Cadien had 11, Dream Takemoto had 8, and Alayna Hughes added 7.  Leina Chu once again led the team with 19 assists.

Against Hardin-Simmons, Willamette was led in kills by the trio of Olivia Cadien (8), Caroline Jameson (7), and Katey Cramer (6).  Leina Chu created those opportunities again with 18 assists and Dream Takemoto (14), Cramer (10), and Alayna Hughes (9), were the team leaders in digs.

Willamette finishes their Texas trip with matches on Saturday, September 7th against the tournament host East Texas Baptist University at 11:00 am and St. Thomas (TX) at 3:00 pm.  The Bearcats open Northwest Conference play at home vs Lewis & Clark College on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 pm.
