
Tacoma, WA - After starting the week with a conference win at home against Lewis & Clark, Bearcat Volleyball hit the road this weekend and dropped the first match of their trip to Washington 3-1 to the University of Puget Sound (25-12, 25-21, 21-25, 25-15).
After seeing the Loggers hit .458 and .357 in the first two sets, Willamette rallied to take the third set, 25-21. The Bearcats got off to a 3-0 start and took leads of 10-5 and 16-7 before winning the set. They duplicated the 3-0 lead to start the fourth set but weren't able to pull it out as this time the Loggers pulled out ahead 15-10 in the middle of the set and would go on to win the final set 25-15.
Olivia Cadien let Willamette with 14 kills and hit an impressive .333 for the match. Katey Cramer was not far behind with 10 kills of her own. Leina Chu again led the Bearcats with 29 assists and a quartet of Bearcats topped the team in digs, Dream Takemoto (10), Cramer (8), Alayna Hughes (7), and Chu (6).
The volleyball team continues their road trip in Tacoma when they face Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, September 21st at 6:00 pm. The Bearcats next home match is Friday, September 27th when they host George Fox University.
