NWC Chooses Heino for Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Zoe Heino (Fy., Portland, OR/Mountainside HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Lewis-Clark State College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 8. The race was held in Lewiston, Idaho.

Heino placed 24th overall (21st among scorers) at the highly-competitive meet. She finished the 5-kilometer course in 19:10. She was the top finisher for the Bearcats. Nineteen of the 23 finishers in front of Heino were from NCAA Division I schools Idaho, Montana, and Gonzaga. Also competing at the LCSC Invitational were NCAA Division II team Central Washington, along with NAIA teams from Lewis-Clark State and Eastern Oregon. Willamette was the only NCAA Division III team in the competition.

The Bearcats are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the 2022 NWC Cross Country Championships in Forest Grove, Oregon. Pacific University will be hosting the meet.
