Cross Country Teams Earn Academic Honors; Men's Team Ranks 5th in GPA

SALEM, Ore. -- The Willamette University men's and women's cross country teams have continued their tradition of success in the classroom as both squads have received All-Academic Team recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their efforts during the 2022 fall semester.

The Willamette men's team achieved a 3.72 cumulative team GPA through the 2022 fall semester to rank fifth in NCAA Division III. The Bearcat women's team concluded the fall semester with a 3.70 cumulative team GPA. A total of seven Northwest Conference men's teams and seven NWC women's teams qualified for All-Academic status.

In NCAA Division III, a total of 212 women's cross country teams and 189 men's cross country teams were chosen nationwide for the All-Academic Team award. Each team had to achieve at least a 3.1 cumulative team grade point average to earn All-Academic status.

Leading the nation in NCAA Division III in cumulative team GPA were the men's team from Concordia University Wisconsin at 3.79 and the women's team from Eastern Mennonite University (Va.) at 3.90.
