Chew is Selected as NWC Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Jay Chew (So., Elk Grove, CA/Laguna Creek HS) from the Willamette University men's cross country team has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for competition between Friday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 4.

Chew earned 28th place out of 138 runners in the men's 6-kilometer race at the Linfield Harrier Classic on Friday, Sept. 1 in McMinnville, Oregon. He was the top finisher from NCAA Division III. Chew's time was 19:17.0 which placed him 19th among scorers. The Willamette men's team took seventh place out of 14 teams.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 when the Bearcats host the Oak Knoll Loop Run. The meet will be held at the Oak Knoll Golf Course in Salem, Oregon. Competition will start at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
