FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Senior left-handed pitcher Clint Moran (Mission Viejo, CA/Capistrano Valley HS) threw a complete game and the Willamette University offense collected 13 hits, as the Bearcats defeated Pacific University, 12-2, in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, April 26 at Chuck Bafaro Stadium. Willamette evened its overall record at 19-19, while moving above the .500 mark in conference play at 15-14 with two games remaining. Pacific fell to 19-19 overall, 16-14 in the NWC.

Moran, now 6-3 on the season, struck out six batters and allowed just six hits. He limited the Boxers to just six hits until the final three innings. Pacific recorded one run on an error and one hit in the seventh, before plating one run on two hits in the eighth.

For Willamette on offense, shortstop Doug Bloom (Fr., Salem, OR/South Salem HS) was 3 for 4 with three runs, an RBI and two walks. Kyle Stalker (Jr., 1B, Bellevue, WA/Sammamish HS) was 3 for 6, drove in Willamette's first three runs and scored the Bearcats' fourth run. He also registered two doubles, while T.C. Lee (Fr., LF, Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) and Ellis Webster (Jr., 2B, Carlsbad, CA/San Dieguito HS) pounded out a double apiece.

Webster and Dan Maslanik (Jr., C, Boulder, CO/Fairview HS) each crossed the plate once and drove in two runs.

Neither team scored until the top of the third inning, when Willamette took a 2-0 lead. Webster reached base when his bunt was misplayed to open the inning. One out later, Bloom hit a single that glanced off the edge of Andrew Curtin's glove at second base. Both runners scored on Stalker's first double of the game.

WU pushed across three runs in the fifth inning. Bloom singled up the middle and scored from first base when Stalker sent a double down the right field line. Stalker crossed the plate with two outs on a single by Young. After Jack McGee (Jr., 3B/RHP, Hillsborough, CA/St. Ignatius HS) was hit by a pitch, Maslanik followed with an RBI single to center field.

Five runs in the sixth inning extended Willamette's lead to 10-0. Lee brought in the first run with a double to left center. Young drove in the next run with a single, and the third run score when Maslanik walked with the bases loaded. Webster completed the big inning by smacking a two-RBI double to right center.

The 'Cats scored their final runs in the eighth inning. Jordan Roberts (Sr., CF, Portland, OR/Grant HS) earned an RBI when he was hit by a pitch with runners on all three bases. Bloom batted next and walked to force in the 12th run.

Pacific received a 2-for-4 performance at the plate from shortstop Brandon Kon. He singled in the seventh inning and eighth inning to drive in both of Pacific's runs. Jeff Johnston provided the Boxers with their only extra-base hit, a double to lead off the first inning.
