Hits .529 as Bearcats Earn 3-1 Record
SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior left fielder T.C. Lee (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) has been chosen Northwest Conference Baseball Hitter Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in games during the week ending May 1. Lee batted .529 (9 of 17) in Willamette's four games, helping the Bearcats go 3-1 with a victory over crosstown rival Corban University and two wins in three games against the University of Puget Sound.
Lee earned at least one hit in all four games, including a 4-for-5 performance against Corban and a 3-for-5 effort in the first game against Puget Sound. In Willamette's 8-7, 10-inning win over Corban, he scored three runs and had three RBIs.
During the week, Lee blasted two doubles and two home runs, as he registered a 1.000 slugging percentage with 17 total bases in 17 at bats. He also provided the Bearcats with five runs and five RBIs. On defense, he achieved nine putouts -- included a diving catch against UPS -- and made no errors.
Lee concluded the season as Willamette's top hitter with a .417 batting average, 44 runs scored and 44 RBIs. He led the Bearcats with 15 doubles and 12 home runs, as well as a .785 slugging percentage.
He finished his four years with the Bearcats ranked second on Willamette's all-time career list in batting average (368), home runs (34), hits (201) and doubles (45). He was fourth in career at bats (546), runs scored (131) and RBIs (131). He narrowly missed tying the WU career record of 202 hits, set by Nik Lubisich from 1998-01.
Lee's efforts helped Willamette take two of three games from Puget Sound. WU won the first game 9-1 and took the second game 10-6. UPS won the final game in the series, 4-1.
The Bearcats concluded the year with a 22-17-1 overall record for their most wins since going 29-16 in 2001. WU was 12-12 in the Northwest Conference this spring.
T.C. Lee hit .529 during the week with two doubles and two home runs.
