Baseball Game versus Corban Moved to April 2 at 4 p.m.

Bearcats and Warriors will Meet for third time this Season

SALEM, ORE. -- The baseball game scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 between Willamette University and Corban University has been postponed by one day due to field conditions and concerns about the weather. Willamette and Corban will play on Wednesday, April 2 at John Lewis Field starting at 4 p.m. (PDT).

The crosstown rivals have already met twice this season. On Feb. 22, the Bearcats defeated the Warriors, 1-0, at Concordia University (Ore.) as part of the NWC/CCC/GNAC Challenge. Corban evened up the series on March 25, with a 6-4 win at Warrior Field.

Willamette enters the mid-week game with a 16-10 overall record, including 10-4 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats have won nine of their last 11 games, including nine consecutive wins in NWC action. Willamette has achieved a .353 batting average during the 11-game stretch.

For the season, the Bearcat pitching staff has registered a 3.92 team earned run average. Willamette pitchers have struck out 122 batters in 231 2/3 innings, while allowing only 62 walks. The Bearcats have achieved a .963 team fielding percentage on defense.

Tiras Koon (Jr., C, Honolulu, HI/Iolani School) leads Willamette with a .394 batting average this season. He has batted .462 in the last 11 games. Hunter Gallant (Jr., 3B, Rescue, CA/Ponderosa HS) is hitting .330 overall, while Ty Wyatt (Fr., IF, Keizer, OR/McNary HS) is batting .329 and Tosh Semlacher (Sr., CF, Gold River, CA/Jesuit HS) is hitting .327.

Tiras Koon leads the Bearcats with a .394 batting average. He has connected for 10 doubles and two home runs.
