Joey Faudskar

What was your most memorable moment throughout your career at Willamette?

Winning the conference championship, hitting my first college home run.

Describe your feelings when you found out the season was canceled.

Sad, disappointed, like I'm missing some important part of my life/career.

How have you been handling life in quarantine? Are you home or on campus? What's it like learning online and not having practice?

Still in Salem, but living off campus. Life is kinda boring. It's hard to stay motivated in school. Not having baseball sucks. The days are too long.

What has your experience as a Bearcat taught you?

Baseball has shown me what a team is meant to be like.

If you could leave one piece of advice for future Bearcats, what would it be?

Take chances, live in the moment. You never know when it might end. Enjoy these times. They're more amazing than they seem right now.

What are your future plans following graduation?

Either get a job or graduate school.

From their teammates

What was your most memorable moment of Joey?

Ryan Whithorn: Joey was on pace to break the single season stolen base record.

Justin Miller: Playing through a hurt arm after getting hit.

Ethan Fischel: How we would always get so hyped to see each other every day at practice and games.

Trevor Burrows: The Willy May's catch in center field.

Tyler Vandemark: Our series this year against Linfield. Their ninth hitter was a small lefty who had done nothing and hit the ball to center field, and everyone, even the coaches thought it was a routine fly ball at him. The ball ended up carrying close to the center field warning track and Joey made a Willie Mays catch.

How has Joey impacted you in your sport or in life?

Ryan Whithorn: Joey always has fun. He reminded us that baseball is a game and we need to enjoy it.

Justin Miller: Positivity and being a great friend.

Ethan Fischel: He has made me take loving baseball to another level. He brings joy to the game.

Tyler Vandemark: Always reliable and an easy person to talk to. We were always talking in the outfield and had a fun time, and our biggest distractions were the dogs walking past the field during practices and games.

What makes Joey special?

Ryan Whithorn: Joey is without a doubt the fastest man on campus. He roamed that outfield like a cheetah.

Justin Miller: Passion for the game and caring for others' success

Ethan Fischel: He wants to be there every single day. He brings a special attitude to the field every day.

Trevor Burrows: Pure talent. Joey could step onto any field and he could very well be the best athlete there.

Tyler Vandemark: He is very humble and calm for how much talent he has. Across the board he is a freakish athlete, and he always put in the work on the field and off the field, and it showed for it.

Is there anything Joey brought to the program that will have a lasting impact?

Ryan Whithorn: Joey is very competitive and he brought a sense of comfort. Any ball hit in his general direction or even to someone else, you knew Joey would find a way to catch the ball. #SpeedKills

Justin Miller: His speed on the bases and in the outfield

Ethan Fischel: His leadership instilled into others

Tyler Vandemark: Him getting on base was so important for us. Every team we played knew he was gonna steal, and he would still take the base with them knowing. There was a reason why he led the nation in stolen bases and made the teams focus on him more then the batter at times.
