SALEM, ORE. -- Matt Bicocca (Sr., PK, San Andreas, CA/Calaveras HS) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his place-kicking efforts in the Bearcats' 77-17 win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Portland, Ore. Bicocca set a school record by connecting on 11 of 11 extra points against the Pioneers.

Bicocca's place-kicking success helped the Bearcats set a team record for scoring in a game. The 77 points accumulated by Willamette broke the old school record of 75, set during a 75-0 win over Whitman College in 1934.

In addition to kicking all 11 extra points, Bicocca was involved in four kickoffs. He averaged 54.5 yards per kickoff. WU punter Clinton Moran (Sr., Mission Viejo, CA/Capistrano Valley HS) never had to punt during the game, but took eight kickoffs for the Bearcats.

Bicocca did not attempt a field goal against the Pioneers, so he remained 6 of 9 on field goals this season, while improving to 27 of 27 on extra points. During his Willamette career, Bicocca has converted 21 of 38 field goals and 101 of 111 extra points.

The Bearcats will finish the 2007 season on Saturday, Nov. 10, when they host Pacific Lutheran University. Kickoff at McCulloch Stadium is set for 1 p.m. (PST).
