SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior post Cameron Mitchell (Portland, OR/Grant HS/Univ. of Redlands) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for the second season in a row. Mitchell led the NWC in scoring and rebounding. He averaged 21.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

Mitchell finished his career with 1,200 points and 791 rebounds as a Willamette player. His overall collegiate totals, including his freshman year at the University of Redlands (Calif.), were 1,342 points and 959 rebounds.

He played in 74 games for Willamette from 2007-08 through 2009-10. He saw action in 98 games overall, including 24 games at Redlands in 2006-07.

During the 2009-10 season, Mitchell recorded 20 double-doubles on his way to scoring 528 points and grabbing 312 rebounds. He scored 10 or more points in all 25 games and tallied 20 or more points 16 times. He missed having a full season of double-doubles by one rebound in each of four games and two rebounds in one game.

He shot 57.9% on field goals this season to rank second in the NWC. He tied for second in the conference in blocked shots per game (1.24), as he finished the year with 31 blocks.

Mitchell scored a career-high 36 points at the University of Puget Sound on Feb. 23, 2008. Only five players in the history of WU basketball have scored more points in a single game, including the record of 46 set by Erik Clarkson against Southern Oregon University on Dec. 7, 1991.

This year, Mitchell grabbed a career-high 25 rebounds against George Fox University on Feb. 12, 2010. The 25 boards tied Mitchell with Larry Lynn for second on Willamette's single game rebounding list. Lynn grabbed 25 rebounds against Pacific University on Feb. 28, 1958. The WU record is 36 rebounds by Ken Ashley in 1962.

Mitchell set the WU record for most free throws made without a miss in a single game. He established the record against Whitman College on Feb. 7, 2009 when he went 13 for 13 at the free throw line.

A consistent shooter, scorer and rebounder, Mitchell averaged 16.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game during his three seasons at Willamette. He was accurate on 57.2% of his field goal attempts during his career with the Bearcats.

Mitchell helped Willamette earn a 6-3 record in the last nine games of the 2009-10 season. The Bearcats completed the year with a 9-16 overall record, including 6-10 in the NWC.
