Three Willamette Men's Basketball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

SALEM, Ore. -- Three players on the Willamette University men's basketball team have been selected for the 2022-23 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, as determined by the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA). Willamette's Academic All-District selections were Jack Boydell (Sr., F, Sonoma, CA/Sonoma Valley HS), Dylan Green (So., F, Lakewood, CO/Green Mountain HS), and Paul McSlarrow (Jr., W, Sandy, UT/The Waterford School).

All of the Academic All-District selections are eligible to be chosen for the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Academic All-America Team. Players nominated for the CSC All-District Team were starters or key reserves with cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Each nominated student-athlete was at their current college or university for at least one academic year.

Willamette finished the 2022-23 season with a 5-19 record, including 1-15 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette ranked third in the NWC with 80.5 points scored per game and also ranked third with 10.1 three-pointers made per contest.

NCAA Division III Academic All-District

Headshot of Jack Boydell Jack Boydell (Sr., F) led the team and ranked second in the NWC with 19.7 points per game. He also topped the Willamette roster with 5.1 rebounds per game. He shot 50.3% on field goals (153-304), 40.4% on 3-pointers (57-141), and 87.6% on free throws (85-97). Boydell ranked first in the NWC in free throw percentage, was third in 3-point percentage, and placed fifth in field goal percentage. His career totals include 1,070 points and 13.9 points per game, plus 322 rebounds (4.2 avg.), 147 assists, and 71 steals. He scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games in 2022-23, including a career-high 34 points at Multnomah University (Ore.) on Nov. 15, 2022. Boydell has achieved a 3.95 cumulative GPA. He is double majoring in Economics and Data Science and is participating in Willamette's 3+2 BA/MBA program.

Headshot of Dylan Green Dylan Green (So., F) played in 15 games for the Bearcats this season after competing in 10 games in 2021-22. This year, he saw action in wins over Portland Bible College and Douglas College (Canada). In 2021-22, he scored seven points in a win over Portland Bible, while hitting 3 of 4 shots. Green hauled down four rebounds in a win against West Coast Baptist College on Nov. 13, 2021. He is majoring in Business Administration and owns a 3.61 cumulative GPA.

 

Headshot of Paul McSlarrow Paul McSlarrow (Jr., W) competed in 23 games this season and averaged 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. He shot 47.1% on field goals (33 of 70) and 39.5% on 3-pointers (15 of 38). He earned a career-high 21 points and was 7 of 12 on 3-pointers in Willamette's 98-66 win over Douglas College on Dec. 30, 2022. He grabbed a career-high six rebounds against George Fox on April 1, 2021 during the COVID-shortened season. McSlarrow has recorded a 3.69 cumulative GPA while majoring in Computer Science.
