BANKS, ORE. -- Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/University Laboratory School) recorded his second consecutive round of 76 to finish in sixth place at the Pacific Invitational with a 36-hole score of 152, as the tournament concluded at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 27. Justin Ahrens of Northwest Christian University won the individual title with an overall score of 142, after carding a 69 in the second round.

Ahrens needed his 3-under-par effort on Sunday to hold off Max Bonk of Pacific University for the win. Bonk registered a score of 74 on the first day to enter the second round just one stroke behind Ahrens. Bonk matched Ahrens with a 69 over the final 18 holes, as they tied for the low round of the event. Bonk finished with a two-day score of 143.

Kyle Wilson from George Fox placed third at 149 (78-71) and Mike Ulstad of George Fox was fourth at 150 (75-75). Brent McKee from Northwest Christian took fifth at 151 (80-71).

Adversalo was one of three Bearcats who finished in the top 12. Taylor McKenzie (So., Hermiston, OR/Hermiston HS) earned 11th place with a score of 158 (86-72). McKenzie carded an even par on the second day to register one of just six rounds at or below par during the tournament. Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton HS) placed 12th at 159 (81-78).

Northwest Christian and Pacific tied for the team title at 608. Northwest Christian was declared the champion in a "card playoff" by earning the lowest total for four golfers on the 18th hole during Sunday's round.

The Beacons trailed by 10 strokes after shooting 318 on Saturday, but charged into a tie for the lead with a 290 in the second round. Pacific carded a 308 in the first round and scored 300 on Sunday.

George Fox University took third place at 626 (321-305) and Willamette finished fourth at 638. The Bearcats improved from a score of 331 in the first round to a score of 307 in the second round.

The Bearcats will host the Willamette Invitational on Monday, Oct. 5 at the Illahe Hills Country Club. The tournament will feature 36 holes, with both rounds played on the same day.
