Bearcats are Eighth after First Day of NWC Fall Classic

PORTLAND, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's golf team is in eighth place after the first day of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Heron Lakes Golf Course. Willamette shot a team score of 331. The 36-hole tournament will continue on Sunday, Oct. 18 with the final 18 holes.

Linfield College held the team lead at the end of the first round. The Wildcats shot 299. Pacific University was two stokes behind at 301. Whitworth University was in third place at 306, while Puget Sound was fourth at 309. Pacific Lutheran University followed in fifth place at 311, with George Fox in sixth at 323, Whitman College in seventh at 324, Willamette in eighth at 331 and Lewis & Clark College in ninth at 332.

Max Bonk of Pacific was atop the leader board with a score of 1-under-par 71.

Willamette's top finisher was Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/University Laboratory School). Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton HS) carded an 82 for the Bearcats, while Alex Bennett (Sr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) recorded an 84 and Taylor McKenzie (So., Hermiston, OR/Hermiston HS) shot an 87. Sam Church (So., San Carlos, CA/Sequoia HS) completed the round with a 92.
