Bearcats Complete Day 1 at NWC Spring Classic

MOSES LAKE, WASH -- The Whitworth University men's golf team has a seven stroke lead over the University of Puget Sound after the first day of competition at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic on Saturday, April 10. Willamette University is in eighth place. Teams will continue play on Sunday, April 11 in Moses Lake, Wash.

Tyler Nelson of Linfield College is the overall leader after the first day. Nelson shot a 68 for a one shot lead over Cameron Whittle of Whitworth. Nelson and Whittle were the only two players to shoot under par. Max Bonk of Pacific University is in third place after shooting a round of 72.

Willamette's Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/The University Laboratory School) finished the round in 78 strokes. Adversalo is in 18th place heading into the second day of play.

Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton Sr. HS) carded an 80 to finish the first day in an eight-way tie for 22nd place.

Whitworth led the team standings with a score of 293. The University of Puget Sound was second at 300, with Linfield in third at 305. Pacific held fourth place at 308, Whitman College was fifth at 313 and George Fox University was sixth at 320.

Pacific Lutheran University was seventh at 328. Willamette finished the day in eighth place at 329, one stroke behind PLU. The Bearcats held a 29-stroke lead over Lewis & Clark College in ninth at 358.
