Beard is Tied For Eighth at Puget Sound Invitational

TACOMA, WASH. -- The Willamette University men's golf team was led by Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton HS) at the first day of the Puget Sound Invitational on Thursday, March 4 at Fircrest Country Club. Beard carded a 79 to tie for eighth place.

The Bearcats find themselves in fourth place after shooting a 338. Linfield College and the University of Puget Sound are tied for first place after both teams carded 298. Pacific Lutheran University is in third place at 322.

Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/The University Laboratory School) of Willamette is tied for 15th after carding a first round 82. Alexander Bennett (Sr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) finished the first day with an 86.

Tyler Nelson and Yutaro Sakamoto, both from Linfield, each shot a 1-under-par 70 to tie for first place heading into the second day of play. Marc Phillips from Puget Sound was one stroke off the lead after carding a 71.

Teams will conclude the invitational on Friday, March 5.

Willamette's Robbie Beard carded a 79 to tie for eighth place after one day at the Puget Sound Invitational.
