Willamette Finishes Fourth at Puget Sound Invitational

TACOMA, WASH. -- Willamette University finished in fourth place following the final round of the 36-hole Puget Sound Invitational in men's golf on Friday, March 5 at the Fircrest Country Club. Robbie Beard (Sr., Yankton, SD/Yankton HS) of Willamette tied for 13 place in the individual standings with a score of 159 (79-80).

Shane Adversalo (Sr., Honolulu, HI/The University Laboratory School) of Willamette finished in 16th place with an individual score of 164 (82-82). Alexander Bennett (Sr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) finished in 21st place, 8 strokes behind Adversalo. Bennett carded an 86 each round for a 168 total individual score.

Yutaro Sakamoto, from Linfield College, shot a 138 to capture the individual title. Sakamoto beat teammate Tyler Nelson by four strokes.

Willamette finished in fourth place in the team standings with a cumulative score of 671. Linfield claimed the team title with a score of 582.

The Bearcats will host the Willamette Invitational on March 15. Play will begin at 9 a.m (PST) at the Creekside Country Club.
