Bearcats Fall to California Lutheran, 1-0, in Overtime

SALEM, OR -- California Lutheran University scored the game's only goal at 95:41, as the Knights defeated Willamette University, 1-0 in overtime, Friday, Sept. 8 at Sparks Field. California Lutheran improved to 1-2 overall, while Willamette dropped to 0-3 on the season.

The winning goal was scored by Josh Moskowitz on a shot from 25 yards out that was partially saved by Willamette goalkeeper Mark Bennett (Fr., Salt Lake City, UT/West HS) who was several yards out in front of the goal line near the right post. After Bennett slowed the shot significantly, the ball went a bit to the left and trickled over the goal line.

CLU outshot Willamette, 27-2 overall and 10-0 in shots on goal. Bennett played well in the nets, earning nine saves for the Bearcats.

Willamette is at home again on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. (PDT), when the Bearcats will play Walla Walla College.
