John Prugh and Eddy Prugh Score for Whitworth in 2-0 Win over Willamette

SALEM, ORE. -- Whitworth University received goals from John Prugh and Eddy Prugh on Sunday, Sept. 21 at Sparks Field, as the visiting Pirates defeated Willamette University, 2-0, to remain undefeated on the season. Whitworh is now 6-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 1-5 overall, 0-2in the NWC.

John Prugh opened the scoring at 9:35 on a 12-yard shot that he slotted past goalkeeper Mark Bennett (Jr., Salt Lake City, UT/West HS). Eddy Prugh added an insurance goal at 61:07, as he struck the net from six yards on a follow shot near the right post. Travis Jette earned an assist on the first goal. Cameron Bushey, whose initial shot was save by Bennett before Eddy Prugh gathered the rebound, was credited with an assist on the second goal.

Bennett recorded nine saves for the Bearcats. Jeff Strock provided one save for Whitworth in the first half. Brian Sherpe, who was in goal for the Pirates in the second half, achieved two saves.

Whitworth outshot Willamette, 21-8 overall and 11-3 in shots on goal. The Pirates also committed 14 more fouls than the 'Cats (20-6). Whitworth attained a 6-2 margin in corner kicks.

Willamette plays at George Fox University on Saturday, Sept. 27. Game time in Newberg, Ore., is slated for 2:30 p.m. (PDT).
