Pacific Scores Twice in First Half for 2-0 Win over Bearcats

FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Pacific University scored two goals in a 19-second span in the first half, as the Boxers defeated Willamette University, 2-0, in a Northwest Conference game on Sunday, Nov. 2. Pacific upped its record to 10-4-4 overall, 6-2-4 in the NWC. The Bearcats dropped to 3-12-1, 2-9-1 in the NWC.

Danny Williams and Jasem Jaihouni scored the goals for Pacific. Williams tallied the first goal at 18:38 on a 35-yard shot. Kisamu Tsutakawa assisted on the play.

Jaihouni hit the net moments later at 18:57 to complete the scoring. Jaihouni shot after receiving a cross from Williams on a free kick.

The Boxers outshot the Bearcats 27-8 during the game and held a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. WU goalie Mark Bennett (Jr., Salt Lake City, UT/West HS) provided the Bearcats with nine saves.

Andrew Stevermer of Pacific achieved the goalkeeping shutout. He made four saves during the game.

For Willamette, Luke Lagattuta (Jr., D, Albuquerque, NM/Highland HS) took three shots, including two shots on goal. Erik Kaufman (Fr., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and Nick Forbes (Sr., F, Carbondale, CO/Colorado Rocky Mountain School) each contributed one shot on goal for the Bearcats.

Williams led all players with eight total shots. He placed five of his shots on goal.

Pacific edged the Bearcats in the season series with a win and a tie. Willamette and the Boxers battled to a 1-1 deadline in two overtimes at Sparks Field in Salem, Ore., on Oct. 4.

Willamette will play its final home game of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against Linfield College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. (PST). WU will conclude the season with a game at the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. (PST).
