Kaufman is NWC Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University sophomore forward Erik Kaufman (Portland, OR/Grant HS) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in games played on Sept. 26 and 27. Kaufman scored a total of three goals and one assist as Willamette went 1-1 during the week.

Kaufman recorded a goal and an assist in Willamette's 3-2 victory over George Fox University on Saturday, Sept. 26. He recorded his assist on the tying goal by Brendan Dineen (So., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) at 63:05. Kaufman scored the winning goal on a chip over the goalkeeper's head at 78:25.

In a 4-2 loss to Pacific University on Sunday, Kaufman tallied two goals. He sent the ball into the net at 84:58 for the first goal. He scored again just 1:38 later on a break-away opportunity at 86:36.

Kaufman is Willamette's leading scorer for the season. He has provide the Bearcats with four goals and one assist for nine total points.

Willamette will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 with an NWC game at Whitman College. Game time in Walla Walla, Wash., is set for 2:30 p.m. (PDT).

The Bearcats will end the weekend with a conference game at Whitworth University on Sunday. Kickoff in Spokane, Wash., is slated for 2:30 p.m.

Erik Kaufman scored three goals and recorded an assist in Willamette's games against George Fox and Pacific.

Erick Kaufman has scored 10 goals in his two seasons at Willamette.
