Willamette Falls to Visiting Pacific Squad, 2-0

SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's soccer team was defeated by Pacific University, 2-0. Willamette held Pacific scoreless through the first half on Saturday, Oct. 17, but was unable to stay with the Boxers in the second half. Willamette drops to 3-10-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the Northwest Conference. Pacific climbs to 10-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the NWC.

Sean Mills scored the first goal of the game in the 66th minute from five yards out on assist from Luis Quintana. Pacific's second goal came from Avery Neal with just over three minutes remaining in the game. He scored on a cross from ten yards out.

Willamette was limited to just two shots on goal during the game. Erik Kaufman (So, F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and Loftin Langsdorf (Fr., MF, Vancouver, WA/Columbia River HS) each took a shot for the Bearcats.

Pacific goalkeeper Andrew Stevermer was the winning 'keeper. He recorded two saves. Mark Bennett, who played all 90 minutes, was the losing 'keeper for the Bearcats. He made three saves during the game. Pacific took 17 shots, including five shots on goal.

Willamette is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 18 at home against George Fox University. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Sparks Field.
