SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University men's soccer players Brendan Dineen (Jr., D, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and Mike McGrew (So., MF, Portland, OR/Grant HS) have been chosen Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference in voting by the NWC head coaches.

Overall, a total of 40 athletes were selected for All-NWC recognition, with 12 on the First Team, 12 on the Second Team and 16 Honorable Mention picks.

Dineen led Willamette's defense and also topped the Bearcats in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven total points. His ability to go forward and add to the attack was very important for the Bearcats, who began the season without 2009 leading scorer Eric Kaufman (So. in 2009, F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and later lost several other offensive players due to injuries. Dineen started all 19 games.

During the season, Dineen scored a goal against Corban College in a 1-1 (2 OT) tie, and also hit the nets versus Colorado College in a 2-0 win and against George Fox University in a 2-0 victory. He earned his one assist in WU's 2-0 triumph over Bethel University (Minn.).

Dineen has scored five goals and produced two assists during his career. He has played in 51 career games with 50 starts.

McGrew played in 18 games with 16 starts. He led the Bearcats with six assists and tied for second on the team in scoring with six points. He took 24 total shots, including 11 shots on goal.

McGrew contributed one assist in six different games. He used his skills as a link between the defense and the offense. He also provided many quality passes on the attack and took 39 of Willamette's 75 corner kicks.

In two seasons as a Bearcat, McGrew has seen action in 34 games with 24 starts. He scored three goals as a freshman last year.

Willamette concluded the 2010 season with a 3-13-1 overall record. The Bearcats lost a total of six games by a single goal and were defeated by more than two goals only once.
