Pacific Sneaks Past Men's Soccer, 1-0

FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Pacific University defeated Willamette University, 1-0, in Northwest Conference men's soccer on Saturday, Oct. 16. Pacific advanced its season record to 10-1-2, 6-1-1 in the NWC. Willamette moved to 3-8-2 on the season, 1-6-1 in the NWC.

Patrick Murray scored the lone goal of the game in the 60th minute for the Boxers. Murray scored on a header into the lower left corner for what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

The Bearcats attempted ten shots in the game, including two shots on goal. The Boxers were able to attempt 18 shots, eight of them on goal.

Eben Hellekson (Sr., GK, Honolulu, HI/The Univ. Laboratory School) played all 90 minutes in goal for WU. Hellekson made seven saves.

Andrew Stevermer was the winning keeper for Pacific. He played the duration of the game and made two saves.

Willamette will play at George Fox University on Sunday, Oct. 17. Game time in Newberg, Ore., is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (PDT).
