  • Bearcats to Host Men's Soccer Alumni Game at McCulloch Stadium on Saturday

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's soccer team will take on former Bearcats from recent seasons as well as team members from more than a few years ago during the annual Alumni Game on Saturday, April 14. The game will be played at McCulloch Stadium with kickoff slated for 3 p.m. (PDT).
  • Kaufman, McGrew and Vazquez are Named Second Team All-NWC

    SALEM, ORE. -- Three members of the Willamette University men's soccer team -- Erik Kaufman (Jr., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS), Mike McGrew (Jr., MF, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and Adan Vazquez (So., F, Woodburn, OR/Woodburn HS) -- have been chosen Second Team All-Northwest Conference for 2011 in voting by the NWC head coaches. Kaufman, McGrew and Vazquez combined for 20 goals and 12 assists during the season, on their way to finishing 1-2-3 in scoring for the Bearcats.
  • Willamette Ends Season on High Note, Defeats Linfield 3-0

    MCMINNVILLE, ORE. - Willamette University used a fast start and solid defense throughout to conclude their season with a definitive 3-0 victory over Linfield College in a Northwest Conference men's soccer matchup on Saturday, Nov. 5. Willamette finished with a record of 6-9-2 (5-8-1 NWC). With the loss, Linfield fell to 2-14-1 (1-12-1 NWC).
  • Whitworth Pulls Away from Bearcats in Second Half, 6-1

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- Whitworth broke a 0-0 tie with two scores in the final 15 minutes of the first half and added a goal 3:05 into the second half, sending the Pirates on their way to a 6-1 victory over visiting Willamette University on Sunday, Oct. 30. The Pirates, ranked #5 in the West Region of NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), improved to 13-3-1 overall, 11-2 in the Northwest Conference.

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Despite an early goal and a one-man advantage, Willamette University dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Whitman College in a Northwest Conference menā??s soccer matchup Saturday afternoon. Willamette fell to 5-8-2 (4-7-1 NWC) while Whitman improved to 8-7-2 (8-4 NWC).
  • Puget Sound Scores Twice Early, Pulls Away in Shutout of Bearcats

    SALEM, ORE. -- The University of Puget Sound earned two goals in the first 22 minutes and added three goals in the second half, as the Loggers shut out Willamette University, 5-0, in a Northwest Conference game at Sparks Field on Sunday, Oct. 23. The Loggers held just an 11-8 advantage total shots, but 5 of their 8 shots that were on target found the net.

    FOREST GROVE, ORE. -- Willamette University and Pacific University battled to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes during a Northwest Conference men's soccer game on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Lincoln Park Stadium. Brendan Dineen (Sr., D, Portland, OR/Grant HS) scored Willamette's goal with 37 seconds left in regulation, after Mason Nakama scored at 67:45 to give Pacific a 1-0 lead.
  • Zuniga Saves Penalty with Three Seconds Left, as Bearcats Defeat Bruins, 3-2

    NEWBERG, ORE. -- Senior goalkeeper Alfredo Zuniga (Salem, OR/South Salem HS) saved a penalty kick with three seconds left, preserving a 3-2 victory for Willamette University over George Fox University on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Austin Sports Complex. WU evened its record at 5-5-1 overall, 4-4 in the Northwest Conference. GFU moved to 2-9-1 on the season, 0-7-1 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's soccer team will battle the archrival Linfield College Wildcats at Sparks Field this evening (Sat., Oct. 8). Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PDT). In addition to playing the Wildcats, Willamette will be welcoming back about 30 former Bearcat men's soccer players.

The Bearcats received a goal in the first half from Erik Kaufman (Jr., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS) and added two goals in the second half on shots by Trevor Jensen (Chula Vista, CA/Bonita Vista HS) and Loftin Langsdorf (Jr., D, Vancouver, WA/Columbia River HS).

WU evened its record at 3-3-1 overall, 2-2-0 in the NWC. George Fox fell to 2-5-1 on the season, 0-3-1 in the NWC.

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The University of Puget Sound built a 3-0 lead and held off Willamette University in the final 15 minutes to earn a 3-2 win over the Bearcats on Saturday, Sept. 17. Puget Sound improved to 2-2, 1-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 1-2-1 overall, 0-1 in the NWC.
  • Bearcats Outshoot Warner Pacific, but Knights Take 1-0 Win

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University outshot Warner Pacific College in men's soccer on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Sparks Field, but the Knights were able to defeat the Bearcats, 1-0, as a goal at 34:27 was enough for WPC to claim a 1-0 win. Warner Pacific upped its record to 2-1-0, while Willamette saw its record even out at 1-1-1. Warner Pacific scored the game's only goal on a shot by Jameson Jones. Alija Sacirovic assisted on the play. Jameson shot from the middle of the box and sent the ball into the center of the goal.
  • Chemeketa Defeats Bearcats, 2-0, in Exhibition Game

    SALEM, ORE. -- Chemeketa Community College scored one goal in the opening minutes and tacked on a second goal in the closing minutes, as the Storm defeated Willamette University, 2-0, in an exhibition game for the Bearcats on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Sparks Field. The game counted for Chemeketa CC, which improved its record to 4-0-2 on the season.
  • Kaufman Scores in First Minute, as Bearcats Tie Eagles, 1-1

    KIRKLAND, WASH. -- Willamette University and Northwest University (Wash.) battled to a 1-1 tie on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the NU Athletic Field. The Bearcats scored early in the contest, while Northwest tallied a late goal to force the tie. The teams did not play overtime.
  • Bearcats Open Season with 2-1 Victory Over Trinity Lutheran

    EVERETT, WASH. -- Willamette University received a goal and an assist from Mike McGrew (Jr., MF, Portland, OR/Grant HS) on Friday, Sept. 2, as the Bearcats opened the 2011 season with a 2-1 road win against Trinity Lutheran College. All of the scoring was in the first half, as WU started the year with a 1-0 record and Trinity fell to 2-2 on the season.
  • Men's Soccer Exhibition Game Moved to Vancouver

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's soccer exhibition game against Clark College has been changed to a road game for the Bearcats and will be played in Vancouver, Wash., tonight (Aug. 25). Game time is still 6 p.m. (PDT).

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University men's soccer team is picked to finish seventh in the Northwest Conference this fall, according to votes cast by the NWC's head coaches in the 2011 NWC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. Four teams received first place votes in the poll, with Pacific Lutheran University taking the top spot.
