Vazquez Chosen NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Earns 2 Goals and 2 Assists as Willamette Wins 2 of 3 Games

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University junior forward Adan Vazquez (Woodburn, OR/Woodburn HS) has been selected Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in helping the Bearcats win two of three games played between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9. Vazquez scored two goals and tallied two assists during the week.

He recorded an assist in the Bearcats' 5-1 victory over Northwest University (Wash.) on Friday, Sept. 7. He then added 2 goals and 1 assist as Willamette defeated Walla Walla University, 4-0, on Sunday, Sept. 9. One of his goals opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the game.

Overall, he played in three games during the week and took seven shots, including four shots on goal. He did not score in Willamette's 3-2 loss in overtime to #4-ranked Trinity University on Monday, Sept. 3.

As a sophomore last season, Vazquez tallied six goals and four assists to tie for the team lead in overall scoring with 16 points. Including his stats from this past week, he has achieved eight career goals and eight career assists for 24 points.

Willamette is 3-2 on the season. The Bearcats will start Northwest Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. (PDT). Willamette will complete the road trip on Sunday, Sept 16 at Whitworth University, also at 2:30 p.m. (PDT).
