BREMERTON, WASH. -- Former Willamette University men's soccer midfielder Trevor Jensen ('14)has signed a contract to play for a second season with the Kitsap Pumas of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The Pumas, who compete in the Northwest Division of the Premier Development League, first signed Jensen last season.

Last year, Jensen helped the Pumas reach the national finals in the PDL playoffs, after competing in 12 of 14 regular season games. Kitsap opened the playoffs with a 4-3 win over Ventura County (Calif.) and then defeated FC Tucson (Ariz.) in the Western Conference Final. In the national semifinals, Kitsap downed Ocala (Fla.), 2-1, before losing to Michigan, 1-0 in the 2014 PDL Championship Game. The Pumas won the PDL title in 2011.

"Trevor is a fantastic player who provides a steady influence in the middle of the field," said Kitsap Head Coach Cameron McDonald. "The fact he was so heavily involved last year may have surprised a few people. However, we knew from the start what he was capable of, and I fully expect him to play an equally pivotal role in our national championship pursuit this season."

Kitsap is a member of the highly competitive Northwest Division, which includes such squads as the Portland Timbers U23s, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 and the Seattle Sounders FC U-23. Jensen, a defensive midfielder for Kitsap, contributed to the Pumas winning the Northwest Division title last season with a 9-1-4 record.

"Trevor keeps on making us proud," Willamette Head Coach Lloyd Fobi said. "This does not surprise those of us who know him well. He is dedicated, hard-working and always has a humble approach to the game. Good things will come your way if you have those three traits. That Trevor reached this goal is inspiring for our younger players, showing that you can come to Willamette, get an exceptional education and still keep your playing dreams alive."

Jensen played in 73 out of a possible 74 games during his Willamette career, including 69 starts. He scored a total of 17 goals and set a Bearcat record with 18 career assists. The previous record was 16 assists, set by Jeff Johnson from 1982-83 and by Dirk Hmura from 1988-91.

As a Willamette player, Jensen blasted 138 total shots with 62 shots on goal. He scored five game-winning goals and took 171 corner kicks. He was 5 of 6 on penalty kick attempts.

Jensen recorded two hat tricks during his career, with both performances coming in 3-2 road wins over archrival Linfield College.

In 2013, Jensen was chosen Third Team All-West Region for NCAA Division III as selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and was chosen First Team All-Northwest Conference. He was selected Second Team All-NWC in 2012.

During the 2013 season, Jensen topped the Bearcats' offensive chart, finishing the year with 10 goals and seven assists for 27 total points. He scored on four of five penalty kick attempts, took 66 corner kicks and registered three game-winning goals.

In 2012, he tied a Bearcat season record with eight assists, equaling the mark set by Kent Jensen in 1983 and by Casey Fries in 1990.

Jensen graduated from Willamette in May of 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Rhetoric and Media Studies.
