Main Chosen as NWC Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior forward Liam Main (San Francisco, CA/Marin Academy) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after scoring a goal in games played by the Bearcats on Friday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 24.

At Pacific University on Friday, Main scored Willamette's opening goal at 30:52, starting the Bearcats on their way to a 3-0 victory. On Sunday against George Fox University, he scored WU's second goal at nearly the same time -- 30:24. The Bearcats defeated the Bruins, 2-0.

With the pair of wins, Willamette leads the NWC with a 4-0 record. In addition, Willamette has won five consecutive games to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Main has played in all eight games for the Bearcats this season, including seven starts. He is tied with three players for the team lead with two goals.

Willamette will take on Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2:30 p.m. (PDT). The Bearcats will play at Whitman College on Sunday, Oct. 1 in Walla Walla, Washington, also at 2:30 p.m.
