Nottage Earns NWC Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior goalkeeper Quinn Nottage (Portland, OR/Franklin HS) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against archrival Linfield College on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Bearcats defeated the Wildcats, 2-1 to finish the regular season at 10-6-2. Willamette achieved an NWC co-championship with a 9-3-2 record, and received the NWC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

Nottage recorded three saves while playing all 90 minutes against the Wildcats. He made all three of his saves in the first half after WU took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Mack van der Velde (Fr., M, Voorhout, Neth./Summit HS, Bend, OR) just over 14 minutes into the game. Nottage's saves preserved the lead at halftime. Willamette added a second goal on a shot by Max Berner-Hays (Fr., D, Seattle, WA/Ballard HS) at 55:47. Linfield broke the shutout when Luke Marks scored at 70:04.

For the season, Nottage has a 0.42 goals against average in six appearances for the Bearcats.

Willamette will take on University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. (CST) 5:30 p.m. (PST). Trinity will play University of Texas-Tyler in the other first round game in San Antonio at 5 p.m. (CST). The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. (CST) 5 p.m. (PST).
