PORTLAND, Ore. -- Willamette University's 1967-68 men's soccer team, which was inducted on Sunday, Dec. 13 into the WU Athletics Hall of Fame, is included in an exhibit at the Oregon Historical Society titled "We Are The Rose City! A History of Soccer in Portland". OHS will host a Zoom tour of the soccer exhibit on Monday, Dec. 14 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. (PST). The exhbition covers more than just Portland, as it focuses on soccer throughout Oregon.

Willamette began competing in men's soccer in 1967-68 through the extensive efforts of players and Head Coach Al Beglund. At the time, Willamette's team became one of the first few college soccer programs in the state.

The Zoom tour will be hosted by historians Libby Provost and Morgen Young from Historical Research Associates, Inc. Provost and Young spent a year developing and preparing the exhibit. In addition, Mick Hoban, the first player signed by the Portland Timbers when they were formed in 1975, will join the virtual tour. Hoban will disucss some of his thoughts about the growth of soccer in Oregon over the past 45 years.

Attending the virtual tour is free. To register for the Zooom event go to:
