SALEM, Ore. -- Pierce Gallaway (So., M, Carmel, CA/Carmel HS) from Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his contributions in games against Linfield University on Wednesday, March 17 and Sunday, March 21. Willamette earned shutout victories in both contests, as the Bearcats defeated Linfield 7-0 in the first game and 1-0 in the second meeting.

Gallaway scored a goal in each game. During the second match-up with the Wildcats, he scored the only goal late in the first half at 39:46. The Bearcats outshot Linfield 24-5 in the first game and 17-6 in the second game. Gallaway started both games playing in more of a defensive midfielder position, helping link the defense to the offense. As the games progressed, he became more active on offense. He took eight shots overall, with four shots in each game.

"Pierce continues to prove throughout the conference that his abilities to distribute, defend, and attack are top-level," Willamette Head Men's Soccer Coach Jared Rust commented. "He had really great performances this past week with a goal in each of our matches. It is a deserving reward for him as the NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week."

Willamette is now 5-0 on the season and 5-0 in the conference. WU has outscored its opponents 17-1 with two lopsided wins and two one-goal victories.

The Bearcats will play at George Fox University on Wednesday, March 24. Kickoff in Newberg, Oregon, is slated for 7:30 p.m.
