Willamette Competes against George Fox on Senior Day for Bearcats

SALEM, Ore. -- The Willamette University men's tennis team took on George Fox University at the Salem Tennis and Swim Club on Sunday, April 16, on Senior Day for the Bearcats. George Fox, ranked #6 in the West Region of NCAA Division III, won the Northwest Conference match 9-0.

GFU advanced its record to 10-9 overall and to 8-0 in the NWC. Willamette concluded its dual match season at 0-13 overall, 1-7 in the NWC.

At #1 doubles, the Bruins' team of Vahag Pashayan and Camden Comacho downed WU's Andrew Kabacy (Grad., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) and Velibor Mladenovic (Fy., Belgrade, Serbia/First Belgrade Grammar School), 8-2. Int he #2 doubles match, Eli Mizerski and Austin Stone of GFU moved past Quentin Nigbur (Sr., Newberg, OR/Newberg HS) and Andrew Kropp (Sr., Bend, OR/Summit HS) of Willamette, 8-3. The #3 doubles match was won by Jackson Whittakeer and Alle Banna of George Fox.

The #1 singles contest pitted Mizerski of GFU against Kabacy of WU, with Mizerski winning, 6-1, 6-0. The Bruins won the remaining singles matches in straight sets.
