Lund is Named CSC Academic All-District in Softball for 2024 Season

SALEM, Ore. -- Center fielder Mia Lund (Sr., Omaha, NE/Westside HS) of Willamette University has been chosen for the 20224 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Softball Team, as chosen by the College Sports Communicators. It is the second consecutive year that Lund has been named CSC Academic All-District.

A panel of CSC members will determine which Academic All-District honorees are eligible to be voted onto the NCAA Division III Academic All-America Softball Team Team. The Academic All-America Team will be released on Tuesday, June 18. Players nominated for the CSC All-District Team were starters or key reserves with cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. They played in 90% of their team's games or started at least 66% of the games. Pitchers had to make at least 17 starts or pitch in a total of 25 or more innings. Each nominated student-athlete was at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing.

Willamette concluded the 2024 season by qualifying for the four-team NWC Tournament after earning fourth place in the NWC standings. The Bearcats put together a strong finish to the regular season by winning nine consecutive games between April 14 and May 1. The Bearcats ended the year with a 17-23 overall record and a 13-15 record in the NWC. Willamette lost two one-run games to undefeated NWC champion Linfield University, including a 6-5 loss in eight innings in the NWC Tournament.

NCAA Division III Academic All-District

Headshot of Mia Lund Mia Lund (Sr., CF) was named Academic All-District for the first time. She batted .263 this season while playing in 29 games with 27 starts. She scored 19 runs and recorded 14 RBIs. She belted six doubles and two triples for the Bearcats. Lund was 18 of 19 on stolen bases. She achieved a .352 on-base percentage. On defense, she contributed 48 putouts and just one error for a .980 fielding percentage.

In her career, Lund has earned a .307 batting average and a .380 career on-base percentage. Her career totals also include 139 games played, 133 games started, 87 runs scored, 28 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 60 RBIs and 45 walks. She ranks third all-time at WU with 71 stolen bases on 75 attempts for a school record .947 percentage. As a defensive player, she has accumulated 277 putouts, and nine assists. She produced a .977 fielding percentage over the past two seasons.

Lund graduated from Willamette this spring with a double major in Global Cultural Studies and Spanish and a 3.82 cumulative GPA. She participated in the 3+2 BA/MBA program and will be a student at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management in 2024-25. Lund was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete national honorary society in 2023. She was selected by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as an All-America Scholar-Athlete in 2022 and 2023.
