    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Sean Piper (Fr., Normandy Park, WA/John F. Kennedy HS) of Willamette University attained a spot in the championship final of the men's 200-yard backstroke at the 2012 Northwest Conference Swimming Championships on Sunday, Feb. 12. Piper earned his way into the finals by tying for the fifth fastest time of the prelims at 1:56.82.

    FEDERAL WAY, WASH. -- Willamette freshman Sean Piper (Normandy Park, WA/John F. Kennedy HS) placed 10th in the 200-yard individual medley during action on the first day of the 2012 Northwest Conference Swimming Championships at the King County Aquatic Center on Friday, Feb. 10. Piper placed second in the consolation final at 1:59.33, as he broke the 2-minute mark to finish 10th overall.
  • Linfield Edges WU Women, Defeats Bearcat Men, in Swimming

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University won seven women's events, but Linfield College split victories in the relays and earned more second and third place finishes, as the Wildcats edged the Bearcats, 106-95, in Northwest Conference swimming on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the WU Natatorium. Linfield also triumphed in the men's competition, winning 129-66.
  • Lewis & Clark Earns Swimming Wins versus Willamette

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Lewis & Clark College defeated Willamette University in Northwest Conference swimming on Saturday, Jan. 21 on the L&C campus. The Pioneers won the men's competition, 148-50, and also outscored the Bearcats in the men's events, 120-72.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Pacific University defeated Willamette University in men's and women's swimming on Friday, Jan. 20 at the WU Natatorium. The Pacific women's team outscored the Bearcats, 122-60, and the Boxer men's squad downed Willamette, 119-66.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitman College remained undefeated in the Northwest Conference in men's and women's swimming as the Missionaries defeated Willamette University on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the WU Natatorium. Whitman's men earned a 122-60 victory. The Missionaries took first place in the women's competition, 116-73.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitworth University defeated Willamette University in men's and women's swimming on Friday, Jan. 13 in Northwest Conference action at the Willamette Natatorium. The Whitworth men won 153.5-42.5, while the Pirates won the women's competition, 150-38.

    ALISO VIEJO, CALIF. -- The Willamette University swimming teams competed in the Orange County Invitational hosted by Soka University on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Bearcat men's team finished in second place, while the WU women took third place. Willamette, Soka and Lake Forest College (Ill.) were the participating teams.

    SALEM, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's swimming team swept a double dual with Mills College and College of Idaho on Friday, Dec. 2 at the WU Natatorium. The Bearcat men's swimming team lost to College of Idaho during the meet. In the women's competition, WU defeated Mills, 62-32, and downed College of Idaho, 63-29. In the men's competition, College of Idaho outscored the Bearcats, 111-74.

    McMINNVILLE, ORE. -- Willamette University swimmers competed at the second day of the Northwest Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Linfield College. The day featured both a morning session and an evening session, as the two-day event came to a close. Whitworth University won the men's team title and the Pirates also claimed the women's team title.

    TACOMA, WASH. -- Pacific Lutheran University remained undefeated in dual matches as the Lutes defeated Willamette University in men's and women's swimming on Saturday, Nov. 12. The Lutes won the men's portion of the competition, 152-40. Pacific Lutheran prevailed in the women's half of the meet, 150-48.

    SPOKANE, WASH. --- The Willamette University men's and women's swimming teams opened their 2011-12 season at the Northwest Conference Sprint Pentathlon, hosted by Whitworth University on Friday, Oct. 28. Individual swimmers competed in five events -- 50-yard races in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, plus the 100-yard individual medley.
