Daniel and Ottomano Earn Quality Marks at OSU High Performance

CORVALLIS, ORE. -- Willamette University track and field athletes Bekah Daniel (Sr., Jr. elig., Silverdale, WA/Central Kitsap HS) and Taylor Ottomano (Sr., Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS) provided the Bearcats with strong efforts at the Oregon State University High Performance on Friday, May 2. Daniel competed in the long jump and triple jump, while Ottomano participated in the high jump.

Both WU athletes registered results near their career-best marks.

Daniel covered 37' 4" in the triple jump and finished sixth. She was just four inches from her personal best of 37' 8", set last weekend at the Northwest Conference Championships, when she won her second consecutive NWC title in the event.

In the long jump, Daniel achieved a distance of 17' 4" to place seventh. Her career-best in the event is 17' 8", set at the Lane Preview on March 14 this season.

Ottomano cleared 5' 3" in the high jump to equal her best result of the season and narrowly miss her career-best height. She also succeeded at 5' 3" at the John Knight Twilight on April 11. On both occasions she finish just 1/4-inch away from her all-time best of 5' 3.25" at the NWC Championships in 2013.

On Friday, Ottomano was one of four athletes who tied for the third-highest jump at 5' 3". She placed sixth based on jumps. Chancey Summers from the University of Oregon won the high jump at 5' 8.75".

Willamette's next action is scheduled for Friday, May 9 during the Oregon Twilight at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
