Fiechtner Chosen NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week

Leads NWC at 22.12 Seconds in 200-meter dash

SALEM, ORE. -- Tom Fiechtner (Sr., Poway, CA/Cathedral HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance at the John Knight Twilight on Friday, April 11.

Fiechtner achieved the best time in the Northwest Conference this season in the 200-meter dash at 22.12 seconds while coming in 2nd place. He trailed the winner, Carlos Ortiz of NAIA team Concordia University Oregon, by just .04.

In addition to his conference-leading run in the 200-meter dash, he ran the third leg on the 4 x 100-meter relay team, which registered a time of 42.30 seconds and captured first place.

Fiechtner's final event of the weekend was the 400-meter dash, where he finished fifth with a time of 50.49 seconds, his best of the season.

After a week layoff, the Bearcats will return to action on April 25-26 at the NWC Championships, hosted by the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. (PDT).
