Duenas Named NWC Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University thrower Hope Duenas (Jr., Covina, CA/Covina HS) has been selected Northwest Conference Women's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 5. Duenas won the discus throw and placed second in the hammer throw.

In the discus, Duenas registered a winning distance of 139' 2" . Her top throw leads the NCAA Division III national performance list. She added a toss of 139' 8" in the hammer throw to trail only the winner, Moana Gianotti from Western Oregon University, who took first place with a mark of 141' 8". Duenas ranks sixth on the national performance list in the hammer.

Willamette will compete at the Pacific Preview in Forest Grove, Oregon, on Saturday, March 9. Pacific University will by hosting the meet. The Bearcats will take on nearby Corban University in the Willamette vs. Corban Dual on Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14. All of the events will be held at Cbarles Bowles Track except for the hammer throw, which will be contested at Corban.
