Peck is Named NWC Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University track and field athlete Brian Peck (Jr., Reno, NV/Reno HS) has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week after taking sixth place out of 18 competitors in the decathlon at the Pacific Multi-Event on March 25-26 on the campus of Pacific University.

Peck set a personal record of 5,884 points in the decathlon. He broke his previous best score of 5,747 points, set at the 2018 Northwest Conference Championships. 

During the two-day event, he placed in the top seven in seven events. On the first day of the competition, he was fifth in the long jump at 20' 3", placed sixth in the 100-meter dash at 11.72 seconds, and took seventh in the high jump 5' 9.75". On the second day, Peck was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, finished fifth in the javelin throw at 142' 2", took sixth in the discus throw at 103' 11", and was seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 4:42.96.

Peck's top event score was 711 points in the 110-meter hurdles. He scored 707 points in the 100-meter dash. Overall, he recorded over 600 points in five of the 10 events.

The Bearcats are scheduled to compete at the John Knight Twilight on Friday, April 5 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The meet will get underway early in the afternoon.
