McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Brian Peck (Jr., Reno, NV/Reno HS) of Willamette University earned fifth place in the decathlon and Adrian Schnee (Fr., Kalispell, MT/Glacier HS), also from Willamette, placed sixth in the heptathlon, as the 2019 Northwest Conference Multi-Event Championships concluded at Maxwell Field on Tuesday, April 16. Peck finished with 5,763 points in the 10 events of the decathlon, while Schnee completed the seven events in the heptathlon with 3,828 points.

It was Peck's second highest decathlon score, only surpassed by his 5,884 points earlier this year at the Boxer Combined Event hosted by Pacific University on March 25-26. His score at Pacific ranks 17th on the NCAA Division III performance list. Schnee, participating in her second collegiate heptathlon, set a personal record by five points. Her previous heptathlon score was 3,823 points at the Boxer Combined Event. She is ranked 32nd on the NCAA Division III performance list.

Peck closed out the two-day competition by taking first place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:42.92. He won the 1,500 by 0.22 over Ronan Krutzikowsky of Linfield College, who placed second at 4:43.14. Peck was 0.40 in front of Nicholas McGill of Whitworth University, who placed third in 4:43.32.

Also on Tuesday, Peck placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.20 seconds for a score of 710 points. He missed his personal record  by the slimmest of margins as he was .01 away from his time of 16.19 at the Boxer Combined Event.

The NWC decathlon title was won by McGill with 6,524 points. McGill did not win any of the events on Monday, as he entered the second day in third place overall. On Tuesday, he won the javelin throw at 176' 7", placed third in the discus (106'0") and the 1,500-meter run, and was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.22) and the pole vault (13' 1.50"). His top score was 719 in the 100-meter hurdles, the first even in the overall competition.

Taylor Phillips of George Fox University placed second in the decathlon with 6,442 points, only 82 points behind McGill. Berkley Hill of George Fox was third at 6,281 and Davis Smith, also from GFU, was fourth at 6,187. On Tuesday, Phillips won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.66 seconds and the discus at 120' 11", while Smith took first in the pole vault at 14' 5.25".

Schnee placed third in the long jump on Tuesday with a top distance of 16' 1.75". She completed the 800-meter run in fifth place at 2:34.45 in a race that ended with the top six runners finishing in a 4.26 seconds span between 2:30.74 and 2:35.00.

Annie Wright of George Fox won the NWC heptathlon championship with a score of 4,953 points. Isabel Clark from Whitworth was second with 4,598 points, and Alissa Swilley from GFU was third at 4,229.

Tabitha Messineo of Pacific Lutheran University took fourth place at 4,069. Morgan Taylor scored 3,837 points to edge out Schnee for fifth place. On Tuesday, Taylor won the 800-meter run in 2:30.74, while Wright took first in the long jump with a leap of 17' 5.50", and Clark placed in the javelin throw with a toss of 129' 10".

The top eight finishers in the decathlon and the heptathlon earned points for their respective squads toward the overall NWC team titles. All of the remaining events will be held at the 2019 NWC Track and Field Championships, set for April 26-27 at Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Washington.
