NWC Chooses Anderson for Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Oliver Anderson (So., Salem, OR/Home Schooled) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week after winning three events during the Willamette vs. Lewis & Clark Dual on Saturday, April 24. He took first place in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and triple jump.

Anderson won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.24 seconds. He edged out Deriontae Green of L&C, who placed second in 11.39 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Anderson prevailed in 23.34 seconds, with Huero Lopez from L&C in second at 23.46 seconds. In the triple jump, Anderson claimed first place with an overall distance of 43' 1.75", as he set a personal record. He won by four inches over Sam Johnson of the Pioneers, who placed second at 42' 9.75".

Willamette placed first in a total of 16 events during the meet. The Bearcats won the men's team competition with the Pioneers, 63-32. Willamette won the women's team competition, 66-20.

Up next for the Bearcats is the Willamette vs. Humboldt State Dual on Wednesday, April 28 and Thursday, April 29. Throwing events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (PDT) on Wednesday at the Charles Bowles Track. The men's hammer throw and the women's hammer throw will be held at Corban University. All of the remaining events will be held on Thursday at the Charles Bowles Track, with running events starting at 3:30 p.m. and field events beginning at 4:30 p.m.
