Matteson and Riggs Compete on First Day of OSU High Performance Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Willamette University Alex Matteson (Sr., Seattle, WA/Nathan Hale HS) and Sami Riggs (Jr., La Verne, CA/Bonita HS) competed during the first day of the OSU High Performance Meet on Friday, April 29 at the Whyte Track and Field Center on the Oregon State University campus. Matteson was entered in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Riggs participated in the women's 200-yard dash.

Matteson earned ninth place in the men's steeplechase, as he recorded a time of 9:38.95. It was the third time this season that he has registered a time under 9:40.

Riggs finished the women's 200 with a time of 26.64 seconds. She placed 22nd out of 38 runners.

The OSU High Performance Meet will conclude on Saturday, April 03. Set to compete for the Bearcats are Oliver Anderson (Jr., Salem, OR/Home Schooled) in the men's triple jump and Katherine Thornton (So., Reno, NV/Reno HS) in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
