Snyder Earns 12th Place in Final Heptathlon Standings at Pacific Multi-Event

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Erica Snyder (So., Longview, WA/Mark Morris HS) from the Willamette University women's track and field team finished 12th in the heptathlon as the Pacific Multi concluded on Monday, March 25. The meet was hosted by Pacific University at Hanson Stadium.

Snyder earned a total score of 3,382 points. She finished just one point out of 11th place and was 164 points from joining a tie for ninth place. Snyder was competing for the first time in a heptathlon at the college level. She registered her highest scores on Sunday while placing ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (632 points, 16.69 seconds) and eighth in the high jump (621 points, 4' 11").

In Sunday's other events, Snyder was 14th in the 200-meter dash at 29.68 seconds and was 16th in the shot put at 25' 2.50".

On Monday, she was 11th in the long jump at 15' 2", placed 16th in the javelin at 71' 10", and was 13th in the 800-meter run at 2:50.20. Her top scores of the day were 462 points in the 800 and 459 points in the long jump.

Two of the 17 competitors in the heptathlon won two events. Lizzy Grandle from Eastern Oregon University won the shot put with a throw of 37' 1.75" (616 points) and took first place in the javelin with a toss of 129' 6" (657 points). Grace Kasberger of Cal Poly Humboldt was victorious in the 200-meter dash at 26.70 seconds (737 points) and won the 800-meter dash in 2:21.45 (804 points).

Other event winners were Cocome McKamey of Cal Poly Humboldt in the 100-meter hurdles, Kayla Morgan from Corban University in the high jump, and Macy Clemens from Western Oregon University in the long jump. McKamey won the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.17 seconds (819 points). Morgan took first in the high jump by clearing 5' 6" (830 points). Clemens won the long jump with a mark of 16' 10" (595 points).

Kasberger won the heptathlon with a combined score of 4,581. Grandle was second at 4,486, and Sammy Conley of Eastern Oregon was third at 4,207. Clemens placed fourth with a score of 4,134, and Morgan was fifth with 4,126 points.
