Mucken is Chosen as NWC Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Steeley Mucken (Fy., Silverton, OR/Silverton HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the javelin throw at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday, March 23.

Mucken won the javelin throw with a top distance of 193' 9.50". His winning mark ranks eighth in NCAA Division III this season and is eighth on Willamette's all-time list. All six of his throws during the prelims and the finals were quality efforts. His top throw was on his second attempt of the finals.

He took first place by 6' 3" over Luke Nelson from Clackamas Community College, who was second at 187' 6". Caleb Janssen from Clackamas CC was third at 163' 4"

The Willamette track and field teams will compete at the Pacific Open on Saturday, March30. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. at Hanson Field on the Pacific University campus in Forest Grove, Oregon.
