Stepp Ties for First Place in High Jump at Portland Distance Carnival

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Willamette University women's track and field athlete Whitley Stepp tied for first place in the high jump at the L&C Portland Distance Carnival on Friday, May 10. All of the field events in the meet were held at Linfield University on Friday.

Track events in the meet are set for Saturday, May 11 at Eldon Fix Track on the Lewis & Clark College campus. Action is set to get underway at 3:45 p.m. PDT.

Stepp cleared 5' 2.50" on her second attempt. Marina Carrol of George Fox University also cleared 5' 2.50" on her second attempt.

On the NCAA Division III performance list, Stepp remains tied with four other jumpers for fourth place. Stepp's nationally-ranked top mark is 5' 7", which she earned at the NWC Championships on April 16. She is likely to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set for May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
