Jones and Mucken Earn All-West Region Honors in Men's Track and Field

SALEM, Ore. -- Elijah Jones (So., Salem, OR/Central HS) and Steeley Mucken (Fy., Silverton, OR/Silverton HS) from Willamette University have been chosen All-West Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024 outdoor season. In order to receive All-Region honors an athlete had to be ranked among the region's top five competitors in an individual event or compete on one of the top three teams in a relay event. Jones was named All-Region in the men's pole vault and Mucken was chosen All-Region in the men's javelin throw.

NCAA Division III All-West Region

Headshot of Elijah Jones Elijah Jones (So.) tied for third on the NCAA Division III West Region performance list in the pole vault. His top mark was 16' 0.50" at the L&C Portland Distance Carnival on May 10. Earlier this season, Jones tied for the lead at the 2024 Northwest Conference Championships at 15' 4.25", but took second place on jumps.

Jones has been chosen to participate in the pole vault at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition in the pole vault is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The event will get underway at 4 p.m. EDT / 1 p.m. PDT. Jones enters the NCAA Championships tied for 17th in the nation. 

Headshot of Steeley Mucken Steeley Mucken (Fy.) earned the fourth-best mark in the West Region this spring in the javelin with a toss of 193' 9" at the Willamette Invitational on March 23. His top throw ranked 28th in NCAA Division III this season. In addition, he registered a strong javelin throw of 188' 0" at the Pacific Open on March 30.
