MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Willamette University's Elijah Jones (So., Salem, OR/Central HS) competed in the pole vault at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 23 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The pole vault began with a height of 14' 10.75" and Jones did not successfully clear the bar on his three attempts.

Nonetheless, it was a great track and field season for Jones, who was one of just 22 vaulters who qualified for the NCAA Championships. He qualfied for the national meet with a personal-record vault of 16' 0.50" at the L&C Portland Distance Carnival on May 10. Earlier this season, Jones tied for the lead at the 2024 Northwest Conference Championships at 15' 4.25", but took second place on jumps.
