    SALEM, ORE. -- Senior guard Laura Payne (Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) and junior guard Molly Fillion (Silverton, OR/Linn-Benton CC) capped stellar campaigns by being named Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference as selected by the NWC head coaches.
  • Puget Sound Women Turn Big First Half into 73-47 Win over Bearcats

    TACOMA, WASH. -- The University of Puget Sound built a 45-16 halftime lead on its way to a 73-47 win over visiting Willamette University on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Memorial Fieldhouse. UPS, ranked #21 nationally, improved to 21-4 overall. The Loggers finished the regular season tied for first place with George Fox University in the Northwest Conference at 14-2. Willamette concluded the season at 5-20 overall, 3-13 in the NWC.
  • Payne Reaches 1,000 Points, but Bearcats Fall to Boxers, 70-60

    FOREST, GROVE, ORE. -- Willamette University senior guard Laura Payne (Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) scored a game-high 19 points to pass the 1,000-point mark in career scoring, but Pacific University hit 22 of 28 free throws, as the Boxers defeated the Bearcats, 70-60, on Friday, Feb. 22 at the Pacific Athletic Center.
  • Lewis & Clark Holds Off Bearcats for 65-59 NWC Win

    SALEM, ORE. -- Lewis & Clark built a 29-20 halftime lead and owned a 15-point advantage with 12:42 to go, but had to hold off a rally by Willamette University before defeating the Bearcats, 65-59, on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Cone Field House. L&C moved to 14-9 overall, including 10-4 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette fell to 5-18 overall, 3-11 in the NWC.
  • Linfield Wildcats Defeat Willamette Women, 81-59

    SALEM, ORE. -- Linfield College defeated Willamette University, 81-59, in a Northwest Conference game on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Cone Field House. The Wildcats upped their record to 9-12 overall and to 2-10 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 5-16 on the season, 3-9 in the NWC.
  • Payne Hits 3-Pointer with 0:47 Left to Send Bearcats Past Lutes, 60-57

    SALEM, ORE. -- Laura Payne (Sr., G, Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) hit a 3-pointer with 1:52 remaining to tie the game, then swished another with 47 seconds left, sending Willamette University to a 60-57 victory over visiting Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Cone Field House. With the win, Willamette swept the season series 2-0 over its NWC rivals.
  • George Fox, Ranked 18th, Upends visiting Bearcats, 78-34

    NEWBERG, ORE. -- The George Fox University women's basketball team, ranked 18th by D3Hoops.com, defeated visiting Willamette University, 78-34, in a Northwest Conference game on Friday, Feb. 8 at the Wheeler Sports Center. George Fox upped its record to 18-2 overall, including 10-1 in the NWC. Willamette moved to 4-16 on the season, 2-9 in the NWC.
  • Whitworth Outpaces Willamette in Battle of Hot-Shooting Teams, 82-71

    SPOKANE, WASH. -- In a Northwest Conference battle that featured two teams lighting up the scoreboard in the first half, it was Whitworth University that continued to shoot well in the second half, as the Pirates defeated Willamette University, 82-71, on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Pirates improved to 11-8 overall, 6-4 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 4-15, 2-8 in the NWC.
  • Whitman Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Bearcats, 68-44

    WALLA WALLA, WASH. -- Whitman College led Willamette University by eight points at halftime, then scored the first eight points of the second half, as the Missionaries began to pull away for a 68-44 victory over the Bearcats on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Sherwood Center. Laura Payne (Sr., G, Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) tallied 16 points for Willamette to lead all players in scoring, but it wasn't enough, as Michelle Krall tallied 15 points and Kelsey Krumdieck added 14 points for Whitman.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University built a 39-24 led in the first half and never gave up the lead, but the Bearcats had to hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to secure a 56-54 victory over Pacific University on Friday, Jan. 25. The Northwest Conference win improved Willamette to 4-12 overall and to 2-5 in the NWC. Pacific dropped to 2-13 on the season, 1-6 in the NWC.
  • Bearcats Fall to Pioneers, 61-43

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Allison Farr scored a game-high 19 points and recorded three steals, as Lewis & Clark College pulled away from Willamette University in the second half for a 61-43 Northwest Conference victory on Saturday, Jan. 19. Lewis & Clark improved to 7-8 overall, 3-3 in the NWC, while Willamette fell to 3-12 on the season, 1-5 in the NWC.
  • Bearcats Overcome 12-Point Deficit for 67-64 Win at PLU

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University trailed Pacific Lutheran University by 12 points with 5:51 remaining, but the Bearcats ended the game with a 15-0 run to defeat the Lutes, 67-64, in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, Jan. 12. Willamette improved to 3-10 on the season, 1-3 in the NWC, while PLU fell to 7-6 overall, 0-4 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Melissa Marek-Farris scored 15 points and Katy Campbell added 13, as George Fox University, ranked 18th in NCAA Division III, defeated Willamette University, 68-37, on Friday, Jan. 11 at Cone Field House. George Fox improved to 11-1 overall, including 3-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette dropped to 2-10 on the season, 0-3 in the NWC.
  • Pirates Defeat Willamette, 86-77, in Northwest Conference Game

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitworth University beat the Willamette University Bearcats, 86-77, in Northwest Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 5. The Pirates used a strong first-half performance to build an 11-point lead (44-33), which proved decisive as the Bearcats outscored Whitworth 44-42 in the second half. Whitworth improved to 7-4 overall, 2-0 in the NWC, while Willamette dropped to 2-9 overall, 0-2 in the NWC.

    SALEM, ORE. -- Whitman College outscored Willamette University by 15 points in the second half to pull away from a 31-29 halftime lead and defeat the Bearcats, 69-52, in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams. Whitman improved to 7-3 on the season (1-0 NWC), while Willamette fell to 2-8 overall (0-1 NWC).
  • Oregon Tech Pulls Away from Bearcats in Second Half, 73-44

    KLAMATH FALLS, ORE. -- Oregon Institute of Technology led Willamette University by just four points with 17:17 left in the game, but the Lady Owls outscored WU by 25 points the rest of the way to claim a 73-44 victory, Saturday, Dec. 8, in the second round of the Oregon Tech Classic. OIT upped its record to 6-2, while the Bearcats dropped to 2-7.
  • Southern Oregon Upends Bearcats 68-59 at OIT Classic

    KLAMATH FALLS, ORE. -- Junior guard Molly Fillion (Silverton, OR/Silverton HS/Linn-Benton CC) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 17 rebounds for Willamette University, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Bearcats from losing to Southern Oregon University, 68-59, on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Oregon Tech Classic. SOU improved to 5-2 overall, while Willamette dropped to 2-6.
  • Westminster Pulls Away from Willamette for 82-56 Win

    SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Willamette University put up a strong battle against the highly-regarded women's basketball team from Westminster College (Utah) throughout the first half, but the Bearcats couldn't keep pace with the Griffins in the second half of an 82-56 loss, at the Westminster College Tournament on Friday, Nov. 30. The Griffins improved to 9-1 on the season. Willamette dropped to 2-5.
  • Montana-Western Downs Bearcats, 58-46, at Westminster College Tournament

    SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The University of Montana-Western outscored Willamette University 34-21 in the second half to overcome a 25-24 halftime deficit and defeat the Bearcats, 58-46, in the opening round of the Westminster College Tournament, Nov. 29 in Salt Lake City. UMW, which competes in the NAIA, improved to 7-1. Willamette, from NCAA Division III, fell to 2-4 on the season.
  • Corban Defeats Willamette, 63-54

    SALEM, ORE. -- Kailey Bostwick and Emily Goette each scored 13 points to lead Corban College to a 63-54 victory over visiting Willamette University on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center. Corban improved to 2-3 overall. The Bearcats fell to 2-3 despite a double-double from Molly Fillion (Jr., G, Silverton, OR/Silverton HS/Linn-Benton CC), who scored 24 points and hauled down 19 rebounds.
  • Bearcats Hold Off Cavaliers for 72-66 Win at Cone Field House

    SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University led by just a single point with 3:27 remaining, but the Bearcats outscored Concordia University (Ore.), 9-4 the rest of the way, as WU held off the Cavaliers for a 72-66 win, Saturday, Nov. 24 at Cone Field House. Willamette evened its season record at 2-2 with the win, while CU fell to 2-4 with the loss.
  • Warner Pacific Pulls Away from Bearcats in Second Half, 70-54

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Warner Pacific College scored 44 points in the second half to pull away from a 26-26 halftime tie and defeat visiting Willamette University, 70-54, on Tuesday, Nov. 20 on the C.C. Perry Gym. The Knights took 71 shots compared to 48 shots for the Bearcats, as Warner Pacific forced Willamette into 31 turnovers. WPC improved to 2-2 on the season, while Willamette fell to 1-2.
  • Bearcats Blast Haverford with 77-43 Win

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- Led by an impressive double-double of 20 points and 20 rebounds from Molly Fillion (Jr., G, Silverton, OR/Silverton HS/Linn-Benton CC), the Willamette University Bearcats routed the Haverford College Fords, 77-43, on Saturday, Nov. 17, in the second round of the Bon Appetit Classic at Lewis & Clark College. The Bearcats outscored Haverford, 49-20, over the final 20 minutes, to extend a 28-23 halftime lead.
  • Bearcats Fall to Menlo 68-48 in First Round of Bon Appetit Classic

    PORTLAND, ORE. -- The Willamette University women's basketball team opened the 2007-08 season with a 68-48 loss to Menlo College, ranked #10 in NAIA Division II, on the opening day of the Bon Appetit Classic, Friday, Nov. 16 at Lewis & Clark College. Menlo received 28 points from Kepua Lee in recording the win, while Molly Fillion (Jr., G, Silverton, OR/Silverton HS/Linn-Benton CC) led Willamette with 20 points.
