Zennan and Fujioka Grab Honorable Mention All-NWC Honors

SALEM, ORE. -- Alex Zennan (Jr., G, Sammamish, WA/Eastlake HS) and Keilyn Fujioka (Jr., Post, Kailua, HI/Iolani School) have been named Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference in women's basketball, as selected by the NWC's head coaches. Claire Ely (University of Puget Sound) was named NWC Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring. Scott Rueck, head coach at George Fox University, was named Coach of the Year after leading his team to their second consecutive undefeated NWC season.

Zennan finished the season averaging 14.6 points per game, good for fourth in the conference. She made 61 3-point shots during the season, while shooting 33.5% from behind the 3-point line. Her 61 successful threes allowed her to place third in 3-point shots made during a single season in Willamette history. Zennan also got it done on the defensive end of the floor, grabbing a team high 2.28 steals per game (3rd in the NWC).

Zennan scored a season-high 27 points in three different games during the season. She scored in double-figures in 20 of the Bearcats' 25 games.

Against Linfield College on Jan. 9, 2010, Zennan exploded for 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. She made a season high seven 3-pointers in that game. She is now tied for first place in Willamette history for 3-point shots made in a single game.

Zennan finished the 2009-10 season with 364 points, 110 rebounds and 57 steals. She has accumulated 846 points in her three seasons as a Bearcat. She is now averaging 11.8 points per game for her career.

Fujioka, who also was named Honorable Mention All-NWC following her freshman year, finished the 2009-10 season averaging 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Her rebounding totals were the second best in the conference. Fujioka was also second in the conference in blocked shots per game with 2.16.

Fujioka had four double-doubles during the 2009-10 season. Her best single-game performance was against William Jessup University on Nov. 27, 2009. In that game, she compiled 22 points and 17 rebounds (both season bests). Fujioka shot 42.5% during the season (105-247).

She finished her junior season with 257 points and 202 rebounds. Fujioka, who left Willamette after her freshman year and then returned midway through her sophomore year, has 551 career points and 438 career rebounds. She has career averages of 9.2 points and 7.3 rebounds.

The 2009-10 Bearcats finished the season 4-21 under the direction of first-year head coach Anne Lapray. George Fox University ran away with the conference title with a perfect 16-0 NWC record.

Alex Zennan averaged 14.6 points per game and sank 61 three-pointers during the season.
